After I added the border and my own picture I tried experimenting with changing the background of my table contents to white. I did not like the way it looked at all, it made it look very bare and hard to read. I will be sticking with the dark background and continuing finding my own pictures.

New Table of Contents:Old Table of Contents:Changes I made:Since my last Table of Contents I have made a few changes to the page. The biggest change is adding the orange border to the edges to match the cover. I adjusted some of the text colors to match and look better. I also changed the font and sizing of the table to fit the magazine more. Lastly, added in my own picture. I took another picture but, I need to adjust the lighting and put in back in. I think once I add my own pictures I will need to make some final but, small adjustments.
In my first drafts, I was using the free images from Canva as place holders but, I want to start finding my own pictures to use. As of right now I have one picture I can use from when I made my very own Charcuterie board at home. I edited it using VSCO once again. I will most likely have to format the image by zooming in and flipping it around.
What significance does the continuing development of digital media technology have for media institutions and audiences?
The one thing that we know for certain in life is that it is always changing and evolving around us. More recently, we have been seeing a lot of change within our technological world as we are constantly introduced to new products and platforms. While the Internet and Television changed our world forever it seems as if we are facing another “wave” of technology advancements to adapt around. This continuing development of digital media technologies is very significant to media institutions and audiences. First, let’s define these developments as they will be discussed in this analysis. Our newest digital media technologies include streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Pluto TV, and many more. There are platforms where people can access and watch different shows and movies. Next, social media such as Instagram or LinkedIn are becoming more popular ways to keep in touch. Lastly, the actual technology devices such as new iPhones, tablets, or TVs where people can actually access these services and platforms. Now let's look how these three developments affect media institutions, the biggest thing is that they are given even more ways to reach us. Movies and TV shows now have opportunities to put their programs on specialized streaming platforms to make more money and have more people watch their show. They can also advertise to us much easier through technology where they can post advertisements on apps like Instagram that are more widespread around the world while still being in their target audience. For example, if a new streaming service for teen shows and movies was released it is very important that they take advantage of advertising on SnapChat and Instagram because those are apps that many teens all around the world use. But, when companies do use these new technologies it is important that they also consider accessibility on all devices so people can constantly be using their products no matter where they are, you want to be widely available. As far as how this is significant to audiences, it is rather simple, we dictate development and trends. As consumers we only buy what appeals to us and what we want which makes these trends that companies then have to follow to stay in business. They are constantly competing with other to stay on top as our number on interest. We all have different roles that have emerged from the continuing development of digital media technology. This shows how significant these changes can be from the company to the consumer. When trying to look for pictures for my two page spread, instead of using all pictures from online or that I took myself I decided to ask my friend Lincoln Le who enjoys cooking if he had any images of ramen I could use. Conveniently for me he had the perfect pictures I could use in my magazine! Below is the pictures of his I will be using.
I experimented with adding a white background to the page and colorful borders for the pictures for a "lighter" theme that may be easier to read. I like how it turned out but, I need to decide which looks better for the overall magazine.
How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project
When creating my magazine I found myself having to use a variety of different technologies in my project including different hardware and software. The most obvious type of hardware I used was my laptop. Here is where I created and edited the different elements of my magazine. Similar to my computer, I also used my phone for quick access to apps and information. I used both of these technologies to help research layout ideas, create the elements, and keep my blog updated. As far as software, I used a few platforms in making my project. The biggest and most important was Canva, on this website I found the templates for my magazine and edited them to my liking by adding or deleting stuff. Here is also where I found my images, on the website there is a place to search for preloaded pictures to use. I put these in mostly as place holders but, some may stay depending on the rules. On Canva I was also able to edit pictures to fit the theme. I also used another website called Weebly to make a website for my blog. Here I was able to customize a website to post blogs and updates about my magazine progress. This will help me keep track of what I have done and what I need to do as well as show Cambridge how my magazine came to be. Canva helped me to digitally create my whole magazine. Here is the first draft of what I want to write in my magazine article:
Title: The 5 best ramen tips. Ever. Story synopsis: Here we will outline simple ideas and tips on how to turn your basic everyday ramen noodle packs into an elevated and delicious meal. 5 tips: 1. Thai in a jiffy!- Try adding 1 tablespoon of creamy peanut butter to some soy sauce to toss your cooked noodles into instead of the boring flavor packets for a Pad Thai inspired dish. You can add chopped peanuts on top for an extra crunch! 2. Egg-cellent idea- In another dish, boil or fry an egg to your liking to add on top of your noodles. This adds protein and a traditional Asian touch to your meals! 3. Spice it Up!- After you cook and season your noodles with the given packet, consider adding spicy chili flakes, sriracha, Tabasco, or whatever you can handle for an exciting kick to your meal! 4. Broth, Broth Baby-When first cooking your pasta try substituting the water for chicken/beef broth. Boiling the noodles in a broth will enhance the flavors of your dish. 5. Meat me Halfway- Once you cook and season your noodles, add some grilled beef, pork, chicken, or even seafood on top for extra protein and a more complete meal. I will be analyzing the article titled “10 tips for life, travel, food, or whatever your topic may be.” The first thing I noticed on this spread is obviously the giant picture of Wyclef Jean, the man they are interviewing. I liked how this image is so big on the page and helps draw people in while there is still a small description of what the article is going to be about. Since this is an interview they inserted a quote from Jean that helped describe the article so people knew what they were going to see on the next page. This quote is very causal and funny which sets the tone for the rest of the article as lightweight and an easy, fun read. This can help draw more people in if the picture of Jean didn’t, a short funny quote to introduce himself will. Now on the second page, we have the words and actual story. First, there is the official title introducing the 10 tips that are going to be listed. This again is just done in simple easy words continuing into the tone from the small joke on his picture. What I found cool about this article is that it is actually an interview in the form of a list of life tips. Normally an interview will just be paragraphs of words and quotes and a top 10 kind of list will just be separated paragraphs but, this combines both. I think this is not only a good way to combine them both for the story but, also looks more aesthetically pleasing. As far as the actual words themselves, the tone is very informal almost like the reader and Jean are to feel like they are having a casual friendly conversation. I love articles like this because they connect more with readers and are definitely more fun to read. I do not think I will be doing an interview in my magazine but, I want to try and keep an informal and fun tone in my writing so my readers will have a deeper connection to the words and actually want to read my article. There are a total of 10 tips on the page and they are all written in the same format with a large number indicting its level on the list, then a small title for the tip in bold followed by the actual information in a small paragraph. These small titles before every tip are also a little humorous so it fits the tone but, it will also help people remember the 10 tips since they can’t just memorize the whole paragraphs. Overall, this article has a very light and casual tone to better connect with the readers which is something I want to try and do in my article as well especially since my target audience is teenagers.
